Moost of the talk seemed to be about a 'bad batch' so is the current batch any better? I'm looking at the sintered ones.

I've put a set in last week & they've been fine.Seems like they've also changed the backing plate to copper now, perhaps that were the problem lay?

I've been using some of the normal ones for a couple of months, no problems so far.

Ran sintered ones all winter and 4 hours round a damp Kirrkoughtree - still plenty left.

I've had a set of sintered in over the winter and have been impressed with wear and stopping power in my Hope 4's.

Sintered for me, I've had the rears on since August and the fronts since September, and that has included some muddy rides. They're still going strong.

As for the original 'organic' ones, they're just rubbish and I've never really got on with them.

I bought some and just as I was fitting them they caught fire, as I recoiled back in shock a shetland pony leapt over my bike, its tail catching fire and as it ran off it then startled the workers who were taking down the scaffold used to repair the steeple of the village church, this alarm resulted in the new steeple collapsing onto the newly appointed roof and before any of us knew what was happening that bloody shetland pony had become engulfed in flames and was galloping in circles around the nearby orphanage, which I'm sorry to say, burnt down. But I feel I must say, I do prefer the new logo to the old one.

mine have been fine, in both sintered and regular flavour.

was the pony ok in the end? Nothing brings me to tears like a singed pony.

I'm currently rocking it with 1000mg of Mefenamic acid washed down with some Panadol, I have the urge to ride down my stairs.

Just had a look at their 4 sets for 25 quid offer - a quick numpty question.

Does 1 set do the whole bike - i.e. front and back or does a set just do either front or back?

1000mg of Mefenamic acid

...you know that's more commonly prescribed for period pain don't you? ๐Ÿ˜‰
I've heard that 2.1 explorers hook up well on slightly worn stair carpet.

Oh, and on topic, one set does one brake, not both. Still bonkers value and comes next day.

if you use dh16's you will take all your carpet down the stairs with you.

No. They feel like they are contaminated compared to Shimano OEM ones

"Seems like they've also changed the backing plate to copper now"

Thats only on the sintered ones

I've not a problem with either the non-sintered ones or the sintered ones. Both seem to last ages through winter mud

Maybe my superior weight gets them upto temperature more often and each susquent layer is getting bedded in more? Rather than bedding them in to start with and then very rarely getting them properly hot through their lifetime? And/or getting them to steam when you pour water on the rotors, but not so it 'whooshes' off?

No issues with the sintered ones on XT calipers. Did just fine for Strathpuffer.

Just fitted some earlier. A friend commented that the reason they fall to bits was that instead of the back plate having two holes drilled in it that the friction material protrudes into, they just have shallow indents so the friction material has much less purchase. Anyway, the ones I got recently (newer blue packaging and pad backing has been sprayed gold) have proper holes in them like OEM ones.

Been running both sintered & orgasmic flavour on my rigs with no problems other than the sintered pads squealed a lot so I changed them for organic. I've had no backplate issues & they work as good as the OEM ones costing loads more.

Behave with the SuperStar chat! My sintered have been great and if they keep their prices where they are, I'll keep buying them.
