I've got a ride coming up that has to start in great hucklow. I'd like to get to the top of bradwell edge and start with that as the decent. Are there any good links or do I road hack to bradwell and then finish with the edge and hack back?
Is there an off-road route from hucklow to top of the edge?
Legally, no. Up the road onto Eyam Edge, then turn left, round past the glider club and own to Abney. Hang a left in Abney opposite the phone box and ride up onto Abney Moor, left again onto Brough Lane, then left for Bradwell Edge by the bridleway sign.
Cheers Jon. It will be midweek so cheeky but practical it acceptable depending on ground conditions.
Thanks Rob. Is that one you know personally? Is it worth riding or just exists on a map?
is - use it a lot - just a nice moorland undulating path
May actually ride it tonight to have a look from your direction (i ride it on my way home from dark to white peak)
Sweet. Thank you for that. Looks like I have a workable plan now.
whats your full route?
Great hucklow, bradwell edge, cement works, up pindale, dirtlow rake, limestone way, down cave dale to castleton, back up the hill to come down pindale, into hope. Brough on the road, climb towards the radio mast (either way depending on daylight) and then back to great hucklow via the bit you helped out with.
its a very nice ride that

Wave as you go past, I can see a large chunk of that loop from my desk
I hope It's not too much for an evening ride, 2ish hours, maybe a bit more. If you're still there I'll wave but if you are, I'll feel rather sorry for you. Probably not starting until half seven.
In that case you'll be waving at my empty desk as I'll be up by Derwent
Bradwell Edge was a nightmare last week - very deep in thick mud! The final descent (steep bit) was just do able on 'normal grip' tyres. Hope its dries for you as its a cracker. On this point and once again why is there a fence across this bridalway!!?? Correct answers welcome...
Good question, never crossed my mind before. Always fun trying to ride around it though.
its preparing us for trail hazards when they open up the footpath network.
