Going to take advantage of the half day at work tomorrow and try the Glenfinglass circuit.
Any recommendations on what direction it is best to tackle it?
I've always done it counter-clockwise.
May I suggest, if time permits; once you've got to the top of Glen Finglas you head down to Glen Buckie and up toward Balquhidder, then toward Lochearnhead, and take Glen Ample as a return leg. Glen Ample is (in my opinion) far more interesting than the track/road return down Glen Finglas - and has some ace singletrack and a great descent that starts at NN587141.
Done it both ways. 6 & 2 3's !
At the head of the Glen, one side is quite a bit steeper than the other. If you do it anti-clockwise, you'll go up the steep side and down the gentler side.
This would normally suggest doing it clock-wise, but the gentler side actually gives a faster, more flowing descent - steep side is a bit "on the brakes".
Not much in it.
I've walked it but unfortunately not cycled it yet. As above, counter clockwise is nice. Nip into the Lade in Kilmahog for a pint afterwards!
