My wife has a Liv Devote alloy gravel bike (like a Giant Revolt). The cable routing means the outer ends near the headtube and re-starts around the BB, leaving a small section of cable at the bottom of the frame that is open to the elements (and unless you're lucky threading cables down the downtube, has bare cables crossing each other). This all leads to pretty poor shifting.
I was thinking of drilling out the stops near the headtube and putting in full length outer all the way. Any reason not to? Anyone have this issue with their Liv or Giant?
Sounds similar to my old TCR, and that’s a bad setup for a road bike. For gravel I’d definitely be tempted to go full outer. You might want to find a way of stopping the outer moving and/or rattling though. Think “cable foam” is what the stuff is called that will help with rattling (I’ve got some but it’s from Wiggle/Lifeline days)
