I was doing the wiper seal clean thing yesterday (done it before) and everything was going ok, had cleaned the seals and added the 5ml oil into each leg but then the cack handed moment happened and i put the lowers on the wrong way round.

I noticed may mistake and though ah i'll just swap them over, but to avoind dripping oil all down my fork i thought i'ddrain the 5ml out by turning the bike right way up ๐Ÿ˜ณ

Now i dont know if this was a bad thing or not! But quite a bit more oil came out of the left leg than the right. I replaced the lowers correct way round and added some more (5ml) to each leg).

Fork seems to work ok, and i've got lockout (not that i use it anyway) rebound etc seems alright, but have i accidently gone and drained all the damping oil out or something? Do i ned to worry, or anything to look out for?

cheers

One leg will have more oil in it than the other - look at the servicing instructions on the fox website - you will prob have to get some oil to top it up - The dampening side (RHS) needs quite a lot of oil for it to work properly and stop foaming etc - I think my Talas's require about 180mls RHS.

Edit - Did a seal clean, check and oil change jast Wed - the oil change I did 3 months ago was suprisingly dirty in the short time (although horrid summer conditions) I last did a seal service ๐Ÿ™‚

Hi

If you have any major concerns then call Mojo (google Mojo fox suspension) but if you have followed replaced what was lost it should be fine. They NEED a certain amount of oil in each leg (different amount in each) otherwise they may get damaged, and tbh having the lowers off would be ideal to drain the old dirty oil out and replace it (guessing you didn't do that) so you could always change the oil to be on the safe side.

I'd say they'll probably explode if left unattended for more than twenty minutes.

i looked at the fox instructions and it seems that you have to top up the oil in the right leg from the top? I didnt fancy doing this as it involves taking the top assembly off which looks a bit more fiddly!

I dont get why you have to fill the fork from the top though if it can all be drained from the bottom? Can i not just drain all the oil out that leg and refil through the bottom hole or will that not work.

Hmm maybe i'll ring mojo!

Top assembly is OK to remove really but you have to make sure you keep the little screws and ball bearing etc safe and don't loose them and use a big correct size socket without rounded faces otherwise its easy to round off the edges of the heads ๐Ÿ™‚

Yeh - just drain it with the outers on into a jar then turn upside down and then poo it into the little hole - best with a little funnel or a syringe and then push down to get the threads of the rods thought and tighten the bolts ๐Ÿ™‚

Check out this on Mojo's website - a short cuts way of doing it all:

Also I find they are a bit odd feeling untill you pump them a bit when everything assembled - I think this is as the fluid gets redistributed and the air moves to were it want to?
