Towards the end of my ride at Cannock today my right fork seal popped out when hitting a bump (rather violently I might add as hadnt seen it approaching the berm). I couldnt get it to seat back in properly but can now get it in properly. Is this a sign my forks are flexing too much (i.e. I need some new ones) or that I just need to give them a service?
More info needed I guess, what fork, last bush replacement, was it the main seal or was it just the dust seal etc etc. Do you lube your seals or leave them gritty and grippy?
Rock Shox Tora 302 - last replaced about 12 months ago I think. It was the upper dust seal that came out (has the yellow sponge below it).
Tend to clean the stantions off after rides
It's a good excuse to get some better forks I reckon ๐
If they're air forks it will be a seal inside releasing air into lowers, could do with a new seal imo
Speak to locotuning he will help you out
Spring forks so not air releasing i believe.
Which side did the seal blow, was it damper or spring side?
Its the damper side I believe
Not sure but maybe an oil leak from damper into lowers blew the seal?
now the seal is back in do they bottom out before full travel?
Woooo I love you all, no-one said dampener!! Maybe the internet has turned a corner?!
