I'm currently looking at buying a Lynskey Ridgeline Singlespeed and I was wondering what people's thoughts were on the best 26" wheel Titanium Single Speed? Really interested to hear everyone's views.
Why 26" ss. 29" far better. Touch paper lit.

I'm not such a Lynskey fan, I have read quite a few reports of their frames breaking, both on here and on other forums.
If I were to get another Ti frame then i'd go with a small one man custom shop, there are loads of them out there - Carl Strong, Steve Potts, Darren Crisp, De-Salvo, Kish etc - All have a proven track record. My personal fav is Scott Quiring, he's a bit cheaper than the rest and has an A1 customer service.
Really? I'm pretty sure Lynskey have one of the best customer service track records out there. Also, the price of an off the peg Ridgeline vs something custom (if custom is even required) will generally be considerable. Not saying I wouldn't want to be riding a Strong or similar, but it's double the price of a Ridgeline.
If I was going for an SS frame I'd be wanting horiz dropouts as I find the most annoying thing about SSing on a converted normal frame is the fact that I need to run a tensioner which sometimes bounces off the chain, which you wouldn't get with a proper frame.

a standard ridgeline starts at $1895, i'd rather spend $2300 and get a fully custom Quiring.
Not sure why a business that makes thousands of Ti frames should be less good at it than a bloke who builds handfulls?
EBB or sliding for me - track ends are the devils work on a mtb.
oh, and back to the actual topic, i'd get something a bit more 'special' than a lynksey

Agreed, there are far far more special frames out there than a ridgeline. It's just an off the shelf reasonably priced option for the more sense than money folk.
I like the idea of having one person design and build the frame from start to finish, it's more personal.
Lynskey are knocking out loads of frames on a production line and as a result quality can suffer. I do however think that they have a very good customer service and any issues have been put right.

in (almost) all seriousness, if i was gonna spank a grand on a new frame i'd get a custom 853 steel, as opposed to an off-the-shelf ti. as long lasting (in reality), custom built exactly for you, one of a kind. mebbe a little heavier, but meh.

Sliding dropouts work great tj, you should try them.

Salsa with an ebb is nice if I were going for a single speed (lynskey built), but I've discovered I quite like gears most of the time, so I'll settle for my Soda (also lynskey built).

Pipedream Sirius Ti (Sliding Dropouts)?
It's about 23.5 lbs with gears. Bang on Matt especially after easter 😉

29er S/S would be a better choice!
I decided on a Ragley TI Piglet in the end. I exchanged emails with Brant yesterday and the Ti Piglet is being shipped from Lynskey mid June and will be in the UK at the beggining of July - it will also have sliding dropouts!! Can't wait!!! 😀
I'm going to run it singlespeed and build it with:
120mm Sid XX forks(15mm bolt though)
