I've just bought an xfusion trace rl2 29er fork and will be taking off the lowers to change the travel before fitting . On a video I watched it says that 7.5wt oil is needed in the lowers when reassembling , my question is can I use the 5wt oil that I already have or do I really need to get the 7.5wt ?

The forks will be a bit plusher, you may even prefer it. Oil in lowers is more about lube than damping, I wouldn’t sweat it too much.
