So, trawling back through the pages and looking at those who reckon they'll be trying to come along (and adding in those who haven't posted but who I know said they'll be along), looks like a fair sized group

lesa
GRAEMEJONES
sambob
goatster
mr potatohead
justme
chico
Matt
singlespeedstu
mrs singlespeedstu

I fully expect that not everyone will be able to make it - indeed a couple of people, such as D0nk, have already had to drop out. Nonetheless, for a midwinter ride that's a good old turn out

9.30 meet for 10 ride. This is pootle pace, so we're not going hell for leather, but it *is* winter so I'm going to try to keep moving rather than hanging around chatting and getting cold. There'll be no café stop during the ride as I find it hard to get going again, and we don't pass any - although we do pas several pubs, but that would be an even worse idea. You should have time to scoff an energy bar when we stop to regroup though.

Then we can warm up with hot chocolates and bacon butties from the Roman Lakes café at the end of the ride.

I'm in too - got some childcare sorted (the missus is badly with Fibromyalgia so wouldn't have been able to have the kids all day on her own)

I don't want snow - i'll not be able to get across if it snows!

Was thinking about starting a 'What tinsel for a festive pootle' thread..

I've got a santa hat, and a metre of poundland's finest tinsel, just need to figure out how to attach the santa hat to my helmet (will boil if i wear it under my helmet) and the tinsel to the bike!

Are there any low hanging branches to get my enormous Christmas antlers caught on? If so, I may need a re-think of my outfit. Hmmmmmmm maybe......

Binners, if your Blonde mate is riding along with you, I'll be right behind you 😛

I think 4m of tinsel might be a bit ambitious, the extra drag co-efficient will slow me down too much me-thinks 8) leaves more room for me dangly bits and bobs though 😆
Sambob, you want a lift? 9 o clock by the chippy ?

Please, that'd be much appreciated. I'll let you know what the snow's like, might be too much to get over the tops, should be alright by Sunday though.

I wonder if the missus will notice if I nick some jingly baubles off the tree...

Positively voluble there, bwd!

Tim, got it ta and have replied - but in case anyone else is wavering and has the same concerns about distance given issues with injury / illness / fitness / crapness:

It’s a pootle which means the pace will be very sociable and inclusive. I’ve a rough route in mind which includes plenty of places where a tired rider can duck out - there are a couple of loops which once we start we might as well finish, but we’re only talking a mile or two round each of the loops. In the right conditions (warm and dry!) a fit rider could sprint round the loop in a couple of hours, I reckon we’ll be out for about 4 to 5 hours allowing for a slower pace and a few stops to regroup.

Have we got snow over there yet chaps? I don't mind. I bloody love riding in the snow. Its a right old laugh. And it doesn't hurt when you fall off 😀

A change of tyres may be in order though. Hmmmmmmm BadlyWiredDog seems to have the right idea.

Bregante - I'm shuddering at the thought of Mad Friday in Salford. We can provide on the move counseling for your post-traumatic stress 😯
