The light mount that attaches to stems, is it any good, what happens when I crash, is it going to damage my stem?
Will it work with my Garmin 1030 which is on a k-edge top cap mount?
Soooo many questions
Got one on my gravel bike, no problems yet, not crash tested it yet
I've put stem mount on scott mtb with some gopro arms to extend frontwards and get the right angle. The gopro mounts rest on the stem and have a rubber wodge underneath and I've not fully tightened the gopro arms. This gives it some flex over very rough terrain snd in event of crash would give so e movement.
.
Fingers crossed I don't crash and if I did then I've got a little bit of flexibility in the mount 3
It’s pretty solid, made of alu i think.
I have my six pack on it, i also bought a spare cleat so i can mount my halfords 1600 on it, works a treat, no wobbling.
I have the stem mount on 2 bikes, so i can use either light on either bike.
Meant to add, it can be mounted upside down too, so the light is under the stem, but not if your stem is flipped up like mine is. That’s probably the only downside imho.
It's good and solid but you need a stem where the faceplate bolts are a certain distance apart, so check that. The latest wider stems (Nukeproof, Syntace etc.) are too wide.
I emailed them to ask if they were planning to make a wider mount to fit these wider stems but didn't get a reply.
I’ve just bought one but it doesn’t fit a Hope stem. Happy to sell it you.
@Atomizer Ah balls, it was supposed to be going onto a Hope stem
If the mount won't fit to a hope stem, are there alternatives?
Use a stem with a narrower faceplate, or use a bar-mounted exposure mount instead.
[or modify the exposure stem-mount, which is what I've done to fit my wide Nukeproof stem]
