[quote=fisha ]I still stand by my comment on a holier than thou attitude shown by *some* cyclists. You only need to see some of the cyclist videos posted up and discussed to see that. Equally, as discussed here as well even in the same videos, there is an attitude of drivers that see themselves as the priority above all else and see the bike as a thing to be put down forever. Which is another holier than thou attitude as well.
The existence of those drivers makes any article which mentions the first but not the second a load of bollocks. They're all a load of dicks, just using different forms of transport. The obvious difference though is that cyclists being dicks don't kill other people.
to move away from thinking that their particular method of transport is singularly the best method that should prevail at the expense of all others.
At present, in real terms, motor vehicles do prevail over all other forms of transport - other forms might not be eliminated, but they are only accommodated where they don't inconvenience motorists. Cycle superhighways etc. might seem a contradiction to that, but whilst they redress that inequality to some extent they don't even make the priorities balanced. The situation for pedestrians really sucks - phasing and priority on pedestrian crossings is universally awful (just that some are less awful than others - unlike the crossing Bez mentions, I only had to wait 2 complete cycles to cross to where I wanted to go yesterday).
