[Closed] Edinboro work trip - where to ride?

Being sent to Edinboro for a weeks work & it's too good an opportunity to miss out on the riding.
I've tried Dalbeattie (loved the red/black route), Kielder (more nice red & black trails), Newcastleton (bit dull), glentress (red & black).
Bit I tend to ride all mountain/core XC, can't ride skinny 'shore yet & can't afford to pick up an injury :/

But assuming I can get 2 days riding done & am happy to give black trails "the minerals" - where should I go?

Innerleithen red then? I think its the best trail in the UK.

after the run off Minch moor and then the single track bit that spits you onto the fire road, skip the section that pulls off that fire road to the right unless you like technical stuff.

Instead carry on (around the gate) and and that the right fork on the fire road and pick up the last sections of the Dh dropping you to the top of caddon bank.

The red is way more black than red when compared to other red trails! it makes some red trails look blue if you get my drift.

Innerleithen is about 1 hour from Edinburgh.

Stay in Peebles in the Tontine. IRO 60 quid B&B, good curry house over the road but their curry isn't that spicy. Never made me ill either.

EdinbURGH!

(Northwind- putting the Urgh back into Edinburgh)

And yup, Innerleithen. Though you might want to avoid the black section, the red's no picnic frankly. Will you have your own transport? Opens things up a lot.

I did innerleithen red when I did glenntress a few years ago - it was wet & very cold on Minch moor LOL but would go back again if there's nowt better ๐Ÿ˜‰ Haven't they done some work on the trail recently?

NW> yup. will drive up there - so I can take my bike. In reality could ride anything & stay anywhere for 2 nights before the work starts ๐Ÿ˜€

Pentlands for a night ride anyway, just because they're there. When are you coming up?

Alisdair> it's be mid Nov. but I'll prolly leave the night rides as I'll be working all hours when the work starts & I'll have all day at the w/e to do the trails.

Is the new trail at Fort bill worth the drive?

No uplift and it's a lot of driving (think 3 hours each way).

If you're considering Fort Bill, why not Laggan instead? It's fantastic and easily done in a day from Edinburgh.

Fort Bill's brilliant, well worth the trip when the uplift's open, but it's closed now til May ๐Ÿ™ The XC is definately NOT worth the trip, it's very good in places but not enough of it.
