Hi,
Im thinking of getting a proper headlamp for riding and was looking at either one of these two

The cateye tora headlamp or the cateye neko headlamp. The tora is £10 extra but has 3 smaller led's extra aswell as the 1w led the neko also has.

Is it worth getting the £10 extra version?

Are they any good?

Thanks,

I've got a Neko which is going to be upgraded to a Tesco torch.

The Neko's not bad, will throw about 7-10 yards, decent beam widthand has been reliable, the Tesco torch is significantly brighter and has a better throw though.

Not used a Tora.

Have a search on here. You can get led toches from e bay / deal extreme.

£50 gets you a specific bike light, £30 a p7 torch which is bright enough to ride with easily. £10 for a 3w cree torch which is the minimum IMO

Depends how bright your maglite led is - a couple of 5mm leds will not be enough - a 3 w cree will be

The Neko is OK but on balance I'd spend 8.99 on a 2 AA LED torch from Tesco and zip tie it to my lid, £20 cheaper and brighter.

Having said that, the Neko is an excellent headtorch.
