I have a rear DT Swiss 240 from late 2018, it has become very difficult to remove and replace the freehub. It's also nigh on impossible to remove the spacer from the axle once the freehub is removed.

I'm therefore planning on replacing the axle, spacer and freehub bearings (which are still the originals).

What I need help with is identifying what axle I need. The DT Swiss website is next to useless and my Googlefu is failing me in a big way. I can generally only find axles for EXP hubs, which may or may not be compatible.

So can anyone point me in the right direction? TIA

Usually a sign of a slightly bent axle.

If you email the UK service center with your hub's serial number they should be able to let you know the code for the axle you need.

I've found the tech team really helpful via email or calling them, so give them a shout would be my suggestion. Sometimes a conversation trumps Google 🙂

Thanks both, I spoke Madison's tech sales and they pointed me in the right direction. Picking the phone up isn't something you think to do these days as most places make it very difficult to actually speak to someone!

A little update on this, Madison weren't actually very helpful at all. After taking the hub apart it's now very obvious that they gave me the wrong part number, so I now have to send back what I ordered and order the correct part, which after some measuring I've worked out what I think I need.

Though I've also worked out that my existing axle seems to be fine and it's the spacer in the freehub which is goosed!

Some of the HG freehubs (the light version with slightly smaller bearings) have the same sized spacer as the ratchet spacer. You might find other types are similar. I've had both the ratchet spacer and he freehub spacer stuck on. One was corroded, the others looks fine but bound. I suspect they had been mushroomed, possibly in the case of the freehub by poorly installed bearings. For the freehub one the freehub was extremely difficult to remove and when attempting refit it was clearly too tight. That one is now fixed with a new spacer.

I don't think the freehub spacers are sold separately though it seems like the sort of thing you'd be able to buy elsewhere.
