Has anybody used or uses these? There seems to be only a limited amount of reviews on the web. Some where indicating failure rate and the lack of response from DT Swiss' customer care; however that was just one riders experience.

Go for a fox or rockshox, better performance amongst other things, all the team guys that have had these have swapped them for fox units.

Good points-they're very light.
Bad points-everything else.

Mine ran for 3 seasons before the damping finally exploded.
Shame as it is really really light.
Tempted by the new carbon bodied RS to replace it.

Came standard on my Mojo SL. I've had no probs. Not the plushest and its no platform damping but i've never felt need for any.But it is very light...in fact its a good job its bolted down cos it would float away!!!

Thanks, that's pretty much sealed the deal. I've been looking at 2nd hand XC frames and one came up with this shock on. As my current budget won't extend to additional shocks, I'll prob' leave it.

Don't be silly. Everyone knows there's no damping in any DT Swiss air can carbon or not.
