I need to put some pedals on my new CX bike and am considering getting some double sided ones for obvious reasons. I have flats and spd's already, so should I change between flats and spd's when I need to or get some double sided ones to make things easier?

Opinions and recommendations of pedals please.

Thanks

In general they get a rep as being the worst of both worlds.

I've got double sided on my road bike, they work fine. Useful if I just want to cycle out for a quick half of shandy.

I posted a topic on this a couple of months back. Went for the A530s. Perfect for the intended use, far too much hassle to swap pedals all the time.

As long as you don't expect them to actually be good flat pedals then go for it.. .

Personally for a bike that might get ridden to the shops now and again in normal shoes I just use proper SPD pedals because they are fine with trainers for a leisurely ride anyway.

Forgot to mention this, flat sides are fine for general pootling but don't expect serious performance from them.

Work perfectly for me on my commute/train/tour bike.

I doubt the op is needing DH flayt pedal performance on his cx.

What cynic-al said.

i've the XT double sided (trekking?) jobbies, perfect for a do it all bike and I've done 200km sportives in the them with no bother too.
