Still get my Surly 1x1 out for a spin
current chameleon with a 150 lyrik, donkey poo brown langster for town (pub) duties, surly crosscheck for town too depending on the mood and my partner's riding, have a kona honzo ESD that'll likely get singlespeeded at some point.
it all still works. just like riding a bike. 😉
What is the (presumably) Titanium bike with the Cannondale-esk killer V frame profile? My eyes aren’t good enough to make out the head badge.
It's his one-of-one Stooge Moto-bastard.
I reckon that 5 of the 6 bikes in Tazzy's post are Stooges, not sure of the models though (the other is a Jones something or other).
@thepodge the matte ti stooge is a one off that was made for me as an SS only ego chariot with some funky geometry and lots of other custom bits. Got a new front end arriving for it in 10 days or so and its currently running my own design super wiiide ti sweepy bars.
as @didnthurt has said others are my original Jones 29 spaceframe (still an amazing bike for woodsy singletrack) the others are various stooges. Top pic is Dirtbomb, Motobastard, and MK1 with a custom paintjob, bottom pic is ti dirtbomb with double duro crux 27.5x3.35 and lots of carbon bits including cranks, enve stem, enve seatpost and whiskey millhouse carbon braced risers and is surprisingly light for a monster truck
Cheers for the info, I like that a lot.
Another one motivated by this thread. I’ve a 1990 Fisher MTB which I owned from new and has had a number of guises over the years. Most recently (albeit that approx 2008) it went singlespeed.
A lot of things led to it being boxed up and ignored while I’ve ridden more modern stuff. However, a combination of a lack of riding mojo and some poor health made me look for something to help me ‘reboot’ so the old Fisher is now back in action! The pulley roller on the tensioner had disintegrated but a removal of 1 link has it pretty much ‘magic gearing along’!
Hella yeah!
Have a MK2 Stanton Sherpa running a 32 up front & normally a 16 t on the rear(Essex is VERY flat)
Did a bike packing trip on it & just swapped the 16 for a 19.
It's soooooo good, can keep up with everyone when it's running the 16 & climb all the local hills.
The 19 is way too spinny for Essex. You just feel like Josh Brollin in the Goonies.
Even in my new temporary home in the foothills of the Alps, I'm still single speeding
By accident to be fair, as my Kindernay gearhub broke shortly after moving here, but SS works very well -- if I choose my route carefully, I can get to peaks at over 1,600m with only a few hundred metres of walking

I took my geared bike out this morning for the 1st time in a while. Felt like cheat codes!
Same as @nickc - we used to ride them together back in the Chilterns 15 years ago. No interest in going back but since you asked for pics...
This took AGES to arrive (bought from the legend that was Sideways Tim) but it was worth the wait. A thing of beauty and still the best paint I've ever seen on a MTB.
I think my first SS was this Inbred:
And I had this before the spot
But the lacquer fell off it and Brant took it back.
I remember when SS stopped for me. Riding two laps of cwmcarn with @watty of this parish (also a SS'r at the time) in the rain. Second lap, I just thought why am I putting myself through this?
I then wrote an article for STW called "Gears and Suspension are a victimless crime" and took a bit of heat for it BITD 🙂
