I got a 26.4 seatpost, but the seat tube is a 26.2. make any difference

Not at all. It's a con that the right size is needed and you should just go for it.

Well, it'll be fine so long as it actually goes in... the theoretical sizes mean it won't happen, though I usually find seat posts are tye right size, but seat tubes are usually oversize.

I have used a seatpost one size too big - but given the choice I wouldn't recommend it.
A certain well known and much maligned national bike shop chain measured my frame wrongly when I went in for a new seat post.
