Wire has snapped in several places, the pin just pushes in, but I see that CRC sell threaded pins for mono minis. I presume later models had a thread on the caliper for this and mine do not? so I must get some fuse wire tomorrow. Any other alternatives?

how about seizing wire from a yacht chandlers.

Oh that makes sense stu. I guess you stick in the straight end and clip over the loop.

I have had a couple of sets of m4's and have at times run without them and never had a problem. Has anyone ever had one pull out or have I had a little bit of luck(mixed with a little bit of stupidity)?

What a Wally trying to bend it straight to get it out.
There is always one muppett.
So the above photo one is not quite "clipped in"

Yep.

the pin just needs turning 90 degrees so the clip will go all the way on.
