Stripped a 2nd hand Dawes kids bike to spray the frame for my boy. Not a bad alloy frame but the components are s!@te. Why do kids need steel cranks and bars? The bb is standard thread so thinking of shortening to 140mm and retapping a set of alloy cranks, anyone done this? Also want to swap the forks needs to be around 360mm axel to crown, any thoughts?

Keen to do something simillar for my eldest, let me know how you get on if you will. Like the idea for the cranks. Do you think 140mm is about right then ? I figure Islabikes got it right, so might follow what they do..
