[#3319305]

I bought some new 5mm hose and 4 olives to replace the existing kinked hose on a pair of Mini Mono brakes.
It wasn't until I took the old hose off that I realised it was 6mm.

If I now buy 4 of these, is that all I need ?
Are the threads the same on 6mm and 5mm ?

I can't find Hope 6mm hose for sale, so if I end up having to buy a pair of 90deg connectors for the calipers at £11 each and a pair of straight connectors for the levers at £8 each, I might as well just buy a pair of hoses for £19 each.

I don't know much about such stuffs, but woon't the hose internal diameter affect the pressure of the fluid once it is pumped by the lever? Would a narrower hose create more pressure?

I dunno.

I can't really help you Graham I'm afraid, although I want to. 🙁

No, the pressure depends on the area of the piston. Hose diameter won't affect it.
The spigot that pokes up the middle of the hose looks right, it looks like the hose is just a thicker wall, not a bigger bore.

Not confident enough to say those are all you need, but it'll be worth it afterwards...the 5mm hose is much more flexible for tidy frame routing, and neater as well.

MTG, I got some electrical shrink-wrap (you know, the stuff you heat and it shrinks to fit) and 'coverted' my 5mm hose to 6mm for about an inch at either end of the hose. Then I used the 6mm fittings.

It's a bodge, it's on a fairly critical part of the bike, what's not to like 😉

Oh, right.

Ignore me then! 😀

You'll need the bit the shroud screws onto too. I have a few spares lying around, courtesy of mamadirt. Will look and see this eve.
May have 6mm hose too if preferred?

Blob, so that's risk having both hoses pop off the calipers while riding down hill at speed, or spend £38 on the proper hoses.
Hmmm, difficult choice.

Boxelder, so I do need both parts then ? It is a different thread ?
If you've got two each of the 5mm version of this and this I can do you a swap for the 6mm version if they're any good to you.
I'd rather go for the 5mm hose if I can.

You need the lot - very different threads.
Cheapest way is this or even go braided for a few quid more.

I only have 2 stainless 5mm shrouds, so not going to help really.
