The hook drags up fibrous plants while the blade has enough heft to go through a fair thickness of branch. And light and easy to handle.

For anything bigger, treesaw, biggest you can carry.

Hey - I get to play with one of those Ditch Witches regularly - they're lots of fun. (Not as fun as building trails with an excavator, mind)

However, when we need to clear areas of brush, we get someone swamping with a chainsaw, followed by a BobCat T190 with Brushcat attachment. The chains underneath that baby will tear through almost anything 😆

That stuff with a powerful enough brush cutter will shred almost anything
