I thought linkglide only went up to 11s.. So you need an HG 12s cassette. Any will do.

Agreed, AFAIK Linkglide is 11s max.

you need an HG 12s cassette. Any will do.

However, some potentially confusing information there. If it's currently a 12sp Shimano MTB cassette it will be a Microspline (MS) driver (but confusingly using 'HG+ technology'!) so you'll need a Microspline Shimano cassette.

If it's not a Shimano cassette it could be something like a Sunrace or SRAM NX that uses an HG driver. (Could also be a SRAM one but if it was on the bike from new it's unlikely it'll be mix and match)ย

Basically, you need to look at the back of the cassette and see what it's on there at the mo if you're not sure.

Yeah im not sure what the fitting on the freehub body is but i know the cassette is a 12 speed Sunrace one. Balls. What cassette for a 12 speed ebike?

If the smallest cog is 11 t it'll be the old freehub body and if it 10t it'll be a microspine cassette body. Why not just replace like for like what you have. They're cheap and xork fine.

If it's HG then SRAM NX or SX 12sp cassettes are good options for ebikes as they're steel, so they're heavy but relatively cheap and last a while.ย

Key question: what is the bike, and is the stuff that's on there at the mo OEM?

It's a 2020 Orbea Wild FS, however the wheels are Hope Pro 4, with a shimano XT rear mech, freehub is Shimano HG. Will obvs replace the chain with the cassette

For the price of a decent 12spd cassette it might be worth replacing everything with 11spd Linkglide.

Have a read through this thread:

If you have a 12 speed drivetrain and a hyper glide freehub then you'll need a hyper glide cassette. Like this one

https://www.merlincycles.com/sunrace-mz800-cassette-12-speed-175131.html

Shimano 12 speed MTB cassettes use the smaller micro spline freehub, so aren't compatible.ย  But you could buy a micro spline freehub for your Hope wheels.

You aren't using linkglide tech, because that only goes up to 11 speed .

The fact it's a ebike isn't relevant. We need to know the model number of your current rear mech. I'm assuming it's m8100.
