How are the ground conditions at the moment. Much snow around? Supposed to be riding there this weekend, and wondering if there's still too much snow around?

Cheers

e-mailed bike shop and they said snow above 900 ft, but melting fast.

We've been recommended a loop to the south of Loch Muick, a loop south and west of Ballater, and a 40km route west of Balmoral.

Bsically wondering whether we should leave it till later, if there's too much snow to get a proper ride in.

The thaw is rapid at the moment. I will look around over the next day or two when I am at work to see how it's shaping up.

A walk through the snow is often worth the effort...

@freewheeler dave

Got a few options recommended to us, see my post above.

Just wanting to kknow whether the snow is a show stopper. Don't want to emberk on a 40km ride if we are going to have to push most of it...had a couple of rdes this winter where we couldn't even ride down hill or on the flat - pointless basically.

Anyway, for those on site, how's it looking out the window today?

@duir

I see from your profile you are an airline pilot. You flown over the area recently then? How's it looking?
