Casual Cycling Trouser Recommendations

Can you please recommend me some long trousers. I want something that I wear like jeans but can go for a ride without getting changed. Currently I just go for a ride in my jeans but this isn't ideal especially if it is light rain. They will be for winter use as I wear shorts in summer.

These are my requirements

OK to wear off the bike to go shopping, wear to the pub, around the house, walks etc

Zipped pockets for key and phone security

Hard wearing and durable

Available in long length (32" waist, 34" leg) with slim fit.

Some water resistantance is desirable and need to be reasonably quick drying.

I am not concerned about how much they weigh.

I don't think they need to be cycling specific, an outdoor walking trouser may do.

I have seen the  Fjallraven Vardag that looks good though expensive.

Thanks.

Fjallraven tends to fit only if you are tall and skinny.

I rode in to work today in my Mountain Equipment walking trousers, if it was colder I would have been wearing my Rab trousers. Not sure of model but they are all much the same. You certainly don't need anything cycling specific.

Howies used to do cycling jeans, not sure if they are still a thing though.

I've a pair of either these ...

https://www.wiggle.com/p/fohn-mens-trail-trousers

Or these ...

https://www.wiggle.com/p/fohn-mens-lightweight-trail-trousers

(TBH, not sure what the difference is between them)

I like them. They're comfortable to just wear around, they're ordinary-enough-looking that I can wear them at work (we have a pretty relaxed dress-code), and light/comfortable enough for just pottering around on the bike. I tend to wear them when working at home when I'm going to walk the dog or going for a gravel bimble at lunchtime.

It says they have a DWR coating, but that didn't last longer than the first wash ... so they're not waterproof/resistant, but they're light and comfortable enough to wear for short-ish rides where you may get a bit of drizzle or a short shower.

I've also a pair of Alpkit Jeanius. Not in the slightest bit weather resistant, but do have good stretch so comfortable riding in; again, will wear for dry commuting / lunchtime potters.

Take a look at https://www.swrve.co.uk/#

They do jeans and trousers in variety of sizes.  They are a bit cycling specific, but I find them great all round.  I wear the black trousers for work, as I cycle commute about 5 miles they are really good and don't wear out quickly.  I also have their jeans, which I rarely cycle in, but just wear in general because they fit me well.

I've got a pair of these, they're lightweight and dry quickly. Not waterproof though. Work for me as a general outdoor/cycling/dog walking trouser.

If you're OK with the reflective piping on the back of the calves, have a look at the Keela Roadrunners. I've recommended them many times. They're a slim fitting outdoorsy trousers

I need mine in a long length and they're cut well for that (6'3, 34" inside leg)

This week I have ordered a second pair of

Revolution Race Softshell ‘jeans’

My original pair are still going strong after 5 years of cycle commuting, office meetings and life in the outdoors

Warm enough for this Autumn weather, and excellent discreet thigh zips to dump heat during unexpected strenuous exercise

Alpkit jeanius don’t match all of your criteria but they stay comfy in all but the crappiest weather. A bit stretchy, a bit water resistant. Ace.

I have these from Alpkit which I like. They have others that are more trouser like as well. Also have long leg length options  https://alpkit.com/products/ardent-mens-softshell-trousers?variant=40786272583785

I came here to recommend the Roadrunners. The Scuffers are basically the same but without the bikey bits.

Really liking the Alpkit Ardent however the Decathlon NH500 and MH500 are appealing at the price.

I like the reflective bits on the Keela Roadrunner. They will be useful when walking and cycling.

I will now read some reviews and make a decision.

Thank you all.

Keela Scuffers are not great for biking though as the ankley-bits are too flappy (I tuck them into socks when running the dog on the bike).

Roadrunners will be my next purchase. For what it's worth their waterproof jackets are amazing!

I've got couple of pairs of Vulpine Opus cycling-friendly jeans. Dark indigo. I wear them pretty much all the time if it's not shorts weather. Great for cycling in, nice amount of stretch.

I missed the return window for a Large, so anyone 34-35 in waist who wants some, let me know!
