I've got a canyon spectral 2019. It has a Acros headset, the bearings are buggered and expensive/not common type apparently.
Looking at canyons site there is no info on size and type etc they use. Having a Google around brings up some conflicting posts around size and type.
I would like to put in a hope headset.
Looks like I'll need a type 2 zs44/28.6 upper cup but I can't figure out if I need a type j is52/40 or type E zs56/40 lower. Canyon take about a year to reply to questions.
Has anyone done similar?? Cheers.
If your on facebook theres a spectral owners page that might be of use.
No, I'm not on Facebook. I'll try and see if I can get someone to check it for me. Cheers.
ZS44/IS52 for cabon models
ZS44/ZS56 for alloy models
According to the Facebook page. Dont't shoot me if it's wrong.
Nice one crumpsbutts! Seems to make sense, thank you.
The 2 worst headsets I ever had were on my spectral and capra, acros and cane creek forty, both utterly dreadful longevity, swap it out for something like a Hope, with actual seals.
Yeah I was looking to swap out for a hope one. This acros one doesn't seem too good. I had a cane creek 40 on my last bike which was ok, but hope stuff just seems better quality and easily serviced if needed.
It does seem to be a common complaint. I have creaking in that area after 2 months from new but I haven't had a chance to look into the headset yet. I have the Acros one on my CF 7.0.
Well, Canyon replied to my query but I didn't specify in my query what model of spectral I had (carbon or alloy). Their reply was that it takes a
Your bike requires a 1 1/8 ZS44 / ZS56 headset
They didn't mention anything about the possibility that the two models take different headsets.
I have replied back to ask if that is the same for both alloy and carbon models but they will probably take a few days to reply.
I'll report back.
