A bike I'm looking at comes with these hubs and an NX cassette (which I'm not thrilled at) so I'm looking at what other options. From what I've seen so far, you can get both HG and XD freehubs for this so I presume I can swap between these but just wondering whether there's a good solution should I want to try a Shimano Deore or SLX or XT 12 spd cassette instead...
Shimano 12 speed MTB is Microspline, not HG or XD. SRAM hubs don’t have Microspline freehub options. So I suspect it’s new wheel/hub time if you want to swap to them.
No. In theory you can get new freehubs (for sram xd) but in reality no. Have the same wheelset and when looking into it was told the wheelset was junk and the bearings would barely last. Have run it in all conditions, gone through 2 cassettes and it’s been faultless. The nx cassettes weigh a ton though.
Really odd old standard that locks you out of upgrading though.
Lots of HG 12 speed cassettes available, including super light Garbaruk ones if you want to throw money at it… you’re not stuck with the NX.
yer use a garbaruk or perhaps an e13, think orange were selling off cheaps the other day
Hmmm. Need to check availability but if I throw another 15% at bike purchase time, I get better hubs (DT 370, so still not brilliant), a better fork (Fox 34 Performance rather than Rhythm), better brakes (?? SRAM G2 rather than Guide T) plus GX drivetrain rather than NX...

Are those Garbaruk cassettes actually compatible with SRAM derailleurs? The website only lists Shimano as compatible...
(I'm lost on all the incompatibility/compatibility between SRAM and Shimano these days...)
With 12 speed, the rear mechs work with everything… the chains are the thing that can cause a problems (so might need to change chainring, chain and cassette all together).

How much does that 15% mean in £ terms? Might the smart choice. The 370s aren't too bad as they are ratchet now anyway.
That hub is a rebranded Formula one and you can get a micro spline freehub for them. Search FH903 or FH904 (one's steel, ones aluminium but they fit the same) and they should fit that hub.

I dunno, better than most pawl hubs retrofit star ratchet if you want
I actually have a synchros wheelset that's listed as a 370 hub that came out of the box with the ratchet kit installed.

My awesome, powerful legs managed to strip and write-off two DT370 hubs (admittedly the older design) so I'm a bit leery of being stung a third time but 350 isn't an option...

About £370ish...

Hmm, very useful to know!
If the 370s are branded as ratchet ln then they will probably be ratchet already, just the 18t version. 350s now have the 36t as standard. Even if they are the old pawl design there is an upgrade kit (£80ish).
Go for the more expensive model, it looks like good value.
If you're concerned about reliability, I've had the Formula version of this hub and it is absolutely awful. Bearing life is terrible and I had an axle snap.
