We've been using Buttonhole for the last few years - preferred it to Assos and cheaper to boot but it seems Planet X no longer stock it and nor does anywhere else in the UK.

What's similar and good value?

I tried this after not being able to get my usual Muc Off when I needed it at the time:

...which at £10 is great value. Thicker than Buttonhole though, and good for longer rides especially.

+1 that stuff from Wiggle/CRC

Works as well as anything else I've tried, better than some

I've been using Charlie's bum butter for years and it's great.

The best part though is it smells like hot cross buns and the aroma gently wafts up through your bibs as you pedal.

Slipstream is the best I have ever used. Its not like traditional creams as it dries.

Having used various brands over the years, the last few I've settle on Charlie's Happy Bottom Bum Butter
