Ok well that's reassuring. One site claimed they were specific.

Any Trek dealer should have the parts , you will obviously need 2 each of rimstrips part W211823 and valves part W250324

Bontrager rim strips (the ones I've seen anyway) are specific to Bonty rims - they're not just a rubber strips like the Stans ones, they're like a hard plastic and an exact width and profile. So if you want to run a Bonty TLR tyre on another rim, you probably can't use the strip.

I've got some likght bike carbon rims with Bonty strips - no issues. In hindsight, though, I should have just used gorilla tape as there *may* be some issues with the strips not wanting to part company with the tyre when it needs changing; have had this happen with a Stans rimstrip - not the end of the world, just a bit tricky.

just did a set of dt5.1 rims with a single wrap of the yellow tape and a set bontrager tubless ready mud-x, in their 5th year of use so theres a lot of old congealed sealant on them..... went fine took about 30 mins to do.

You're Cardiff based right?

In the whole time you've been faffing about without the strips I've converted my Bonty rims to tubeless. All I did was pop into the local Trek dealer (Sunset on Woodville road) and walked out with two rim strips and two valves. An hour later I had two tyres running tubeless. I've even been out on the bike and decided the original XR3's are not the best for winter, ordered a set of Conti Mountain King II's online, had them delivered and set them up tubeless too ๐Ÿ˜†

Don't meant to gloat or anything but ๐Ÿ˜† ๐Ÿ˜†

Is this the new saga to keep us all entertained after the Passat episode?
