Blowing through all rear travel, is it an issue? Increase pressure or tokens

Bought a new to me bike recently, air shock rather than my previous coil so a bit more to set up. I am a set and forget guy not a fiddler.

Been on a couple of rides, set pressures at recommend psi, set the rebound a little slower. Front is ok but I am blowing though all rear travel. Not crazy terrain, rooty southern trails, a few drops of about 3' face height landing down a slope so a bit more total drop. Nothing big at the end of the day.

Instinct says add tokens for a ramp up but is it actually an issue? Or should I just throw a few more psi in.

If your happy with the amount of sag then add token/s, if it's sagged too far add some PSI.

The recommended pressure is really just to get you into the ballpark, you need to experiment a bit to find what works best for you. You need to find an initial pressure that gives you an appropriate amount of sag (generally 25% to 30%) so the bike pedals ok and doesn't feel mushy on smoother stuff. If it's blowing through its travel once you've got the sag sorted, you need to add tokens.

"blowing through travel" is one of those terms that has been used so much its meaning has become a bit blurry.

Are you bottoming it out landing these drops?
Ending up at the bottom of the travel after a series of small hits like riding over a nest of tree roots?
Finding the elastic band at the bottom at the end of your ride which you feel is unwarranted given the bike:terrain?

Number three of those options. I haven't paid loads of attention during the ride to identify the exact point probably need to narrow that down.

What would your opinion be for option 1 or 2?

recommended psi might not equal the right sag for you kitted up. check the sag. i normally head to 20-25% in attack position. i wouldnt know the recommended PSI for my frame.

What would your opinion be for option 1 or 2?

1 might suggest you need more pressure or tokens, 2 might suggest your rebound is too slow.

Agree with Mandy.

For number 3, and this is more likely to happen with a shock mounted vertically or diagonally, and in my experience seems to be a Rockshox issue - are you sure the rubber band isnt just a bit loose and is bouncing down to the bottom of its own accord while you ride, and not a result of actually getting full suspension travel?

Happy with the sag.

I used to run 30% rear and 20% front, was chasing progression via tokens and tunes for ages. Ended up playing with PSI and turns out 25% rear and 16% front suited me better. Don't rule out trying adding more PSI.
