[Closed] Bike insurance to cover racing only

My bikes are covered for theft by my house insurance, but I'd like some insurance to cover crash damage in crit and road racing (so I can use my better wheels without worrying too much!), are there any insurers who'll cover racing only and not include it as an extra with general bike insurance?

yellowjersey.co.uk will insure your bike for racing, although the old adage "Don't race what you can't replace" comes to mind here, especially with regard to crits

That's why I want to have insurance in place before using the wheels which I can't really afford to replace!

With whatever you'll be charged for cover + excess, I'd be thinking about self-insuring

A lot of the good carbon wheel makers (Reynolds) do have crash replacement schemes, which might be cheaper way (use when needed) than years race insurance cover?

Or also look at pedal cover as I think they have race, travel etc options with their house insurance.

I think I paid about £30 a month when I insured my bike for road racing.  That was via a company promoted on British Cycling website.  I just accepted it as a cost of racing.

It covered all the other stuff like theft, accidental  damage etc too but I'd imagine that damage during racing is the main risk, so i'd think it's unlikely you'll find anywhere that will cover you just whilst you're on a race course.

I don't imagine it would be much cheaper anyway.

I hadn't thought about crash replacement, does anyone know if Mavic do crash replacement and if so is any good?

Mavic is 40% off RRP. If your wheels are relatively new have you registered them in the care programme?
