What's the best 29er Front Tyre for April to November? I'll be using mud tyres in the local gloop for the winter months.
Ride South and North Downs, mainly woodland singletrack, and a few weekends in Wales or similar each summer.
29er full-suss. Something I can leave on there for 8-9 months a year.
Ignitors my 2p.
great all rounder.
On the back of my SS with RR on the front when not muddy.
In mud/roots/wet rocks I put Stout on front instead.
In summer, SB8s F&R
I run a Bonti 29-4 on the front of my RIP9 all year round.
I'm very happy with it. I hate changing tyres so it suits all conditions for me.
I mainly ride South Wales.
Maxxis Ardent are good for me
I run Maxxis Crossmark LUST all year round and IMO you can't beat them.
Cheers guys, i'll be running a Maxxis Crossmark 2.1 on the rear.
2.4 RR here.
WTB Prowlers? Got them on my scandal at the mo' and loving them.
Hans Dampf at a nice low pressure in a 2.35 variety, stuff it into anything, yes it's litttle bit portly but it fills you with confidence
Grippy and light is what i'm after for the front.
Maxxis Ikons are a really nice tyre and would complement your Crossmark well.
I used to love my 2.3 Ignitors on the front of my 26 trail bike.
Unfortunately they only make them in 2.1 in the 29er size and I found them a bit twitchy for the rocky south Wales trails.
They were prone to sidewall tears too.
If I moved to an area with lots of hardpack, loose gravel and firm soil I'd go back to ignitors.
hardpack, loose gravel and firm soil
indeed, hence why I like them on Malverns. But for wales trips stouts are a bit more dependable.
stouts are a bit more dependable.
Loved those but I believe they no longer make them.
I heard that theyd stopped making ignitors too and had a panic attack ๐ fortunately there's still some out there...
