OK, I stumbled on this '09 Reba fork and it looks like a steal to me uneducated eyes...
Has anyone got any thoughts to the contrary? Do these have problems or compatibility issues?
I am hoping to build it into a Genesis Latitude 853 with SLX kit for general trail centre and XC use.
Cheers.
H
Good forks, but Black & Silver ?
You can have my white ones in ex nick (2010) for £175 posted if you like ?
Hehe, yes the colour is a bit odd...
£175 sounds good. Have they been serviced etc? What dropouts are they?
Ta,
H
They're off a 2010 Altitude 20 853.
Maxle - think 20mm. Do you have a wheelset for your build as I'm splitting the Altitude so theres the Deore/ Alex rims wheelset with tyres/ tubes and 180 rotors going too.
Front is Maxle obviously.
Not serviced as prob done 25hrs max last year in the dry.
not bad, saves around £60 over Merlin?
09 was first year with "power bulge" apparently, if that matters.
PM, maxle.
Hmm, site looks a bit dodgy to me. Not got any of the legally required info or contact details on site!
site a bit dodgy, but its paypal, so if dodgy you're likely to get your money back (i am not a fan of pp, just saying).
"Welcome to Bike Bits, your new webstore that gives you the components you want without making your wallet say OUCH."
My wallet says "who are you?"
Do you want pics ?
Drop me an email to d_estall at yahoo.co.uk if interested.
Cheers.
Got some 100mm Reba RLs from on-one, took the spacer out so they're now 120mm. Only £250. They've still got white ones in stock.
Are they gold, benslow? As for the wheels, I think I will be building up some Mavic on XTs soon.
mrjmt - I would do that with the rebas, however I am really after a maxle version rather than 9mm, or am just being weird?
H
Yes, Gold.
These are them - Right 'ere
In fact this is the bike spec so check the wheels - they're nice and light and in ex condition.
Hubs are SLX according to this and i think thats right.
£275 for wheels, forks tubes and tyres - Posted.
They're excellent forks.
Easy to setup, very light and super plush.
Going to miss 'em but its one in one out and the new stuff is 29er spec.
OK - this prompted me to get selling proper so theres an ad in the Classifieds now.
ta
Oooo... nice. These take 20mm hubs... yes?
I'll have to double check but am sure they do.
NIce and stiff.
so do people think the 120mm rebas on that site are a bit fishy then?
err yes!
So I rang the bloke up, he was very happy to help, weighed them for me, explained honestly that they were OEM kit that he buys off distributors and that they come with 12months RTB warranty and a 30 day moneyback. Seems kosher to me, unless the company goes bust soon.
At that price I am prepared to take a gamble.
Can anyone tell me whether Rebas are purely racey forks or will they take a bashing from trail centres, drop offs and the like as well as Revs etc? I intend to service them once a year or so...
H
I use 20mm axle rebas on a dirtjump bike I use for everything from local XC to dirtjumpng and Downhill, and I'm no lightweight rider (am pretty smooth tho).
Obviously not as strong as a Pike or Argyle but as long as you're not nose casing big gaps all day they're upto plenty punishment
I got a pair from the same guy on eBay a couple of weeks ago at the same price. Came the next day, only thing I noticed was they had an incredibly tight crown race installed so that would back up the OEM explanation.
Came with a manual and pushloc but that was no use to me as it was integrated brake leaver shifter mounting type.
I did give them a lower oil service before putting them on the bike and I am glad I did as there was very little oil in the lowers.
All in all even after I had sorted out a pushloc lever I still think they were a bargain at £200 and a nice upgrade from my old recons.
"Came with a manual and pushloc but that was no use to me as it was integrated brake leaver shifter mounting type."
How do you mean?
Also, the low level of oil in the lowers, surely this is bad, no?
To be fair, the lowers are only supposed to have 5-10ml of oil in aren't they anyway?
Hi the leaver was a match maker type, I notice on the link above though it has been changed to poploc so may be they are including what ever lever they have instock.
Low oil is bad, I have been told in the past that Rockshox forks have sometimes come with not a great deal of oil in the lowers. When I stripped these I left them to drip for a couple of hours and collected less than 10ml in total. Probably wont have made alot of differance but I thought given the age of them and what I had been told I had nothing to lose from giving them a quick service.
fair point tbant, you've got me thinking.
What do I need to do the service myself and is it easy? I've seen some vids on youtube... Much chance of scratching stanchions doing it?
and about this crown race, I'm going to have to pull it off to have it fit my FSA 1-1/8" aren't I?
H
Hi I have used the guide on Bike radar before Link
Its fairly easy, I cant think of any way you could damage anything so long as you follow the guide and take care when you put the lowers and uppers back together.
You will have to get the crown race off, I just used a large flat blade screw driver and tapped it off, it was on very tight though and took a while to get moving. Could be worth asking the seller if they could get it off for you, you never know they may do it for you or have some forks that dont have them installed.
Yeah, they've all got them on unfortunately, I asked. Might just get a crown race remover!
Hi there,
Just to let you know - I recently updated our website and our contact details "disappeared" - They are now back on the "about us" page
Thanks
