I've used HRMs in the past for roadie things like time trialling. I haven't done any of that for a good while now, and hence my old HRM stuff has been gathering dust in a box in the garage.
This year I'm having a go at some MTB racing; mainly enduro stuff building up to a 24hr solo at Bonty 24/12.
I've done a 4hr race so far, during which I plainly went too hard for the first hour or two and paid for it on the last lap. I've no doubt this is a common problem.
I'm now wondering whether it's worth doing the next one (6hr at Erlestoke in 2 weeks) with my HRM on, to give me a heads up when I should wind it in a bit.
So my question is, do many of you enduro & XC racers use a HRM? Will an offroad course be too sprint/rest for a HRM to help (I'm previously used to riding TTs at a steady high HR)?
All tips gratefully received, ta!
