got some bargain 44 RC3 Tis on ebay
very pleased as they seemed to be in mint condition!
but wouldnt hold any air and started to leak oil from the rebound side after a ride round he park ๐Ÿ™

sent back to windwave they want 230 quid to fit a new rc3 cartridge

i could return them through ebay but it seems a shame and probably hassle

has anyone any experience of taking apart the cartridges, is it doable?

cheers

kimbers

bump for the evening crew?

also i believe the seller may be a stwer and by checking his posts it seems he already knew of this fault, contrary to what he has said via ebay.........

*runs of to get pitchfork*

If they did know then that's a pretty poor thing to do.

I had a set that did the very same thing and off to windwave they went to get fixed. There's a lack of service manuals on the net so I'd send them back. Or buy mine that do work and are legit ๐Ÿ™‚

Dont know much about the new forks, but the cartridge was a sealed unit on the old ones so you couldnt take it apart. I imagine they're still the same.

The seals blow when you try and use a standard shock pump or floor pump to adjust the preload. The preload has a max pressure if 15psi. If you go over it it blows the sealed rc3 - hence a new rc3. I used a standard fork shock pump and I bet your seller did. Mine was replaced and I've since splashed out on the low pressure marz shock pump. My fork is now setup like a dream. Live n learn.

On the plus side, if they are mint, and if you got a bargain in the 1st place, you'll have some fantastic forks once windwave have sorted them.

Agree they are really really good forks once setup properly and are maintenance free.

How long have you had them? If they were already blown out of the second hand 'box and you haven't left feedback yet I'd be talking to the seller.

Interesting to note that although this isn't Windwave's fault, the RC3 sounds like a right fragile thing- whereas mazz led us to believe they'd gotten over their fragile internals....
