I got one last weekend so it's not trolling, just a quick question, anyone had any luck using a mains adaptor so you can use it sans car sometimes?

It should, superlukey, but it doesn't. To be more specific, it seems to struggle to supply enough current and therefore is a bit intermittent. You'd be better off getting a computer SMPS, putting it in a box and wiring it straight into the dirtworker.

You need a regulated one then like this. This is even cheaper: http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?ModuleNo=32754

Errr, dirtworkers require several times more current than that PSU will supply.

Older dirtworkers require around 6A current supply and "new" ones use 4-5A.
