For a packable waterproof that will only be used on the road bike?

Castelli Idra is slightly more expensive for the same material - is there any reason to pay the extra?

Anything else I should be looking at for around the £200 mark?

Castelli Idro has more reflective detailing, which is obviously good.

On the other hand, the Gore has a zip that can undo from the bottom to let you access jersey pockets underneath. I suspect that this would work better than the zip on the rear of the Idro that opens vertically to the right hand side of the pockets.

I think the 7mech oro is probably worth a look.

I think I'm leaning towards the 7Mesh Oro now. Seems like the cut is better than the Castelli and Gore options, although obviously that is body shape dependent.

No-one else had released theirs when I got my 1985. I have to say it's the most insanely waterproof and breathable jacket I've ever owned, it's a revelation. I'm sure whichever jacket you get in this material will be good.
Worth the money? Yeah I'd say it is.

Received my 1985 jacket last week but put it to the test this morning on a dog walk of all things. Proper biblical rain and even when bulked up underneath with two layers I stayed dry as a bone. The surplus waterproof trousers didnt hold up anywhere near as well as they wetted through. It really does shake dry too. Very impressed.

Mine has had a proper test commuting the past few days, It's held up without question to the deluges and does as said above just shake dry.
