Hi Chaps,

I've got four Hope Floating Rotors, all 180mm, all about a month old. All have warped enough that I can't setup the calipers without rubbing, and I also now have a lovely random lever pull length, depending on if I get the straight part of the rotor or not first...

Anyone else had this same problem? I've been doing long-ish steep descents, kind of 4 minute long. Still don't expect that from Hope rotors.

These are on Hope Tech 3 and E4 calipers...

It's now 2 weeks til the Alps, and I doubt I'd get a warranty in time

Cheers

Ricks

Not a floating rotor but had the same happen to a non floating hope rotor in the alps. Binned it and used other brands since and never had a similar issue. Only a sample of 1 but it has put me off hope rotors.

Another long time user of HOPE stuff, Long Alpine descends Two weeks every year, these rotors are 3 years old and no warping and weird pull length ratios.

I'm off to the Alps tmrw 🙂 I've no issues taking these at all.

6 years on my current set and only now they are showing signs of wear, This is North lakes as well......

Never warped one and they do get very hot indeed 😯

Bent one slightly after contact with a rock, but it straightened easily....

No warping over years on four bikes in our fleet...

Use dot 5.1 so a high boiling point for maximum squeezage on all sorts of riding, inc the mega last week...

Damn, must be a dodgy batch then. I'll give Hope a bell tomorrow to see if they can help.

Is it the rotor or the carrier that's bending? I ask as the carriers are surprisingly soft.

You may have some with tighter than usual buttons..l,

I'd be surprised if Hope can't sort you out in time!

No warping. However it is very easy to knock them and bend them without realising it.

I've managed to not warp a single rotor before, which is why all four being warped is very odd.

Two are on my bike and two on the missus'.

If that's the case then I'd imagine HOPE would be pretty keen to get these back in house and look at them. All 4 does seem Odd so it may well be a dodgy batch, were they both bought together and in same size and colour?

I've snapped a front one before on the ally webbing by my own fault tho as i collided with a tree.

Let us know how you get on,

About 3 years on the current ones, the older ones on the other bikes are fine too. Think I have one of the original ones.

I've been using them for years with no warping issues, including lots of Wales/Lakes trips with long descents. The only problem i've found is that the rivets become slightly looser over time. This doesn't really affect performance though.

Rivets are all tight, they're all 180 and the same type, but they're 2 black and 2 purple. Very odd then

I remember speaking with a guy on Holiday who was adamant that a rotor could not warp and it was the hubs that warped.. He was an engineer so he was right. 🙄 Cool story, I know. 8)

I haven't had a Hope rotor warp, but other brands have.

Were they "pre warped" when you got them by carriage, postie etc etc ?

They were fine out of the box, noticed them clacking against the calipers last week when hard cornering. Now they rub all the time, which is rather annoying on climbs.

rikon, I think you must have a bad batch, mine are 3 years old and the front has a wee kink in it, but doesn't stop me from setting the callipers up!

Hope will see you right, I'm sure
