some tea leaf has just stolen one of my bikes with my flats on it, so am now searching for some replacements for my five spot which is built on the freeride side of all mountain.
I have had DMR V8's in the past, but never been impressed withe the bearing quality, but they are cheap.
Now interested in something a little more in keeping with the bike...

...any recommendations?

Likewise, I'm not finding my V8's very grippy ATM. It's not my AM40s at fault. Superstar nanos any good?

If you don't mind spending a bit more money, you won't regret buying some Easton Flatboys.

I've had mine years, they've been bashed into all sorts, they still keep on rolling... In fact a big rock hit in the alps a couple of years ago resulted in a bent crank arm, yet the pedal was fine!

I had my eyes on these for a while. They remind me of 24 Bicycles Butterfly pedals that I had on a bike that got nicked.

I'm more than happy with my Wellgo MG1's.

cheers guys, didn't realise there was a post just 8 hours ago on the very same topic.
love the woodman butterflies. had a woodman seatpost many years ago on another bike that got nicked!

tempted by these tho, if I can find them at a sensible price.

Superstar or Wellgo MG1, got to be a bit daft to spend more IMO.

I've got V12's with 5,10s low impacts and they are fantastic. Had v8's for years but felt like getting the V12's this time.

the v8's/v12's/wellgo copies are pretty good. personally i prefer a bigger pedal but maybe thats cos ive got biggish feet. the shape of the straitlines is nice but the bushings are naff in my experience, though others will say different. the easton flatboys as mentioned above are great. pretty meaty and heavy but really solid feeling unerfoot. my absolute first choice would be burgtec penthouse flats though. yes they are pricey, heavy and there are prettier pedals out there but they are such a great shape, really confidnce inspiring and are easy to service when you eventually need to. a big initial outlay but a worthwhile invstment imo.

DMR V12's with Terror Pins and 5,10s are almost too grippy! Bearing life on them is pretty good, only a little play in mine after 4 years.

V12s- heavier than MG1s, more expensive than MG1s, and made in the same factory as MG1s. Also have a smaller area despite having pretty much the same thickness and width, and aren't as reliable. No reason to buy them really IMO.

+1 for Easton Flatboys.

Like em better than my DX's

Super wide to plant your feet on and grippy enough even without 5.10's.

All IMHO of course.

its about where you place your feet not how grippy the shoe/pedal combo is

Next you'll be telling us that tyre choice doesn't matter either, roots don't exist and trails are alive and have 'energy'... 🙄

Hay,

Just got some Superstar Mag Lite CNC Pedals. Arrived 48 hours after ordering them, and they even gave me a bag of lollies! 348grams on postal scales at work (with pins - cromoly axel).

These are the same as the Nukeproof Proton although these are alloy rather than magnesium, £10 more and heavier.

I agree. 18 months later I still have the scars. 😳

Also Straitlines. Choice of colour too.
