Wathcing the answer with interest. Surely if the padding is OK it's got to be as good as a cardboard box purloined from the LBS?
I got an Avenir one for about another tenner.
Thin padding but used some sheets of cardboard from a bike box and some old towels. No damage to the bike through the airports and not too heavy to cart around, but it was a lightweight road bike.
Although they are a retailer their feedback isn't great, and after my last purchase would never go near them again.
But that's my opinion..
Anyway, I used to have one of the Avenir bags, they are thin and as per joeegg used a cardboard box for protection within the bag. One other tip - try and get a bike bag with wheels!
May just buy one and report back
Bought from them the other day. Item arrived promptly and properly packaged. Happy with price and service.
Hmm, no wheel bags. That's worth paying more for, makes packing very easy.
