Hi,
I'm thinking about changing my Prophet frame just for something different. I love the frame, it's great fun, lightish and strong. Love the slack angle and lowish BB. Gotta be about 140mm travel so it's different to my SX Trail and Morewood Izumi.
Any suggestions? Ideally something of equal value to my 2008 White medium frame with RP2 shock and good condition paint.
I'm 5'8" and technically pretty good with reasonable fitness.
Cheers
James

Simply because I fancy a change. Nothing more nothing less!

Spend your money on something fun instead

I have some cash coming and have looked at alternatives and can't see anything I'd want to buy (waste the cash on) instead of my Prophet without changing the from a single pivot (which I like) & adding weight.

How about a new fork or one of these expensive shocks?

Edit: Ok I quite fancied a 5 Spot (but not enough), but you wasn't getting one of those for money you can get for your prophet frame.

How about a holiday? or weekend away for an uplift day?

No point changing it if you like it!

Spend the money on a week in the Alps.

Never sell a bike you love, unless you want to be looking for another one in 6 months.

I love my Prophet, its just an awesome bike. Nice laid back angles, well balanced (front doesn't feel floaty on climbs) and genuinely light and stiff.

+1 on changing the forks/shock instead of getting a new bike - I changed the stock RS Pearl on my Prophet MX for a PUSHed Roco and it transformed it...

Great feedback guys, I know you're all right and I should keep and spend dosh elsewhere, but I was really looking to sell it and use the money on an alternative...
Everyone keeps throwing the words about loving the bike back at me and I guess you're right!
Would be very interested to stick a Pushed Van R on as I prefer coil shocks but it won't fit in the 'freeride' position unless I saw/file off the XC tabs which I'm not keen on doing if I ever try and sell the frame!
I've already got 2010 Magura Thors on which are fantastic so i don't need new forks, rest of the kit is pretty decent too so that only leaves a new/different frame or alternative coil shock (which I'm very keen on doing!)
Suggestions?!
Cheers
James

If you want to stick a coil on your Prophet you have to say goodbye to the XC tabs! BIG commitment!

I have a coil on mine and haven't taken a saw or file to my bike. XC tabs all present and correct 😉

"judicious use of a file on the front of the swingarm to remove some metal so it swings nicely."
So no going back to XC slot then!

Thats not what he said is it.

How much clearance do you need the air shock dont look to have more than the coil shocks around the eyelets.

no pics I'm afraid, at least not with me - FR holes, and it's a '06 Marz Roco RC (200mmx50mm) with a PUSH tune. I guess your worried about interference between coil mounting collar and the the mount tabs? It's very tight, but you can do it. Can't comment on Fox VANs etc though

I coulda sworn that how I read it, it's not the eyelet's were worried about but the coil mount collar & the tabs that allow you to move between the FR & XC tabs, as per FH's post.
