Hi all,
I was in a bike shop today looking at a new frame. I saw a lovely frame which the owner then told me was 650b. I said that's a shame I run 26". he said no problem; everything will fit fine.
Is this right? I am a little nervous about:
geometry
handling
wheelbase
fork issues
naturally I guess it will vary between companies; frame, use, type etc; the frame would have no strength issues (stronger than me!)
so has anyone done this? either as a temporary fix; or permanent plan?
be grateful for your thoughts;
I like the frame but not so much that I would put ANYTHING at risk and would rather go for 26" than a risk
Yes there will be a difference but not much. The difference in the radius of the wheels is 1.2cm. Not that much and you could make a lot of that up running some really big tyres and then get some different tyres/forks later.
I have nearly the same difference of radius (1cm) between my back tyre (Racing ralph) and front tyre (Hans Damph) and can't tell which is bigger.
