Apparently 3rd place is a medal position........
The pole looks strong there
Yes ,building into exciting finale... Come on Sweden. 🙂
Why aren't any of the main BBC channels showing the women's XC 👿 .... As in BBC 1,2,3,4 etc. Have an old sky box so can't tune in the fancy channels.
Load of *&^£$$$!!!!
Can pendrel keep that effort up?
Go Canada......and Sweden......go Poland......
iPlayer on computer Michaelmcc?
Rissveds mechanical broke up the pack, and is now working to her advantage.
Can Pendrel close that gap on the last lap, she does look strong.
channel 606 freeview or blue button on bbc 4
Anyone know if it will be on Iplayer for the next few days? Cheers
Batty chasing back for the bronze now.
Bloody good effort to the woman that finished 19th in Atlanta!
Cracking race.
I enjoyed that a lot.
Worthy winner.
Batty could have done with the course being 200m longer eh?
Very good coverage I think, looking forward to the mens!
Shame Batty couldn't quite do it but it was a good race.
+1 good race. Impressive from Rissveds. Course could be tougher though. The men will flatten it.
Anyone else notice in the slow-mo's that shock on Rissveds bike seemed to be doing almost nothing? Wondering why you'd take weight penalty over a hardtail if you are going to lock out (or crazy high pressure) the rear even on downhill sections.
Shame about the commentary being so crap, absolutely no insight into the race apart from the blindingly obvious.
I mean technically tough. It was obviously 'hard work' tough but there didn't look like that much to really separate the skillful riders from the fit.
Interesting to see how Sagan goes though. There'll be nothing to worry him technically but those XC boys are super fit.
10? 12? laps for the men?
Excellent race, glad I caught it.
The commentary was awful, even made me miss rob warner...
I will say that MTB course was better than London/Essex.
Scott helmet looks good.
not quite a 'rock garden' mate...
not quite a 'rock garden' mate...
Aside from the commentary being cringeworthy and dire throughout, that course looked ferocious, I think the cameras flattened it out a lot. No one has yet worked out a way of making XC MTB racing look exciting but I suspect those rock sections would have had more than a few riders off here thinking twice about it, especially on a carbon hard tail with an XC stem/saddle position.
I saw the XC course at Hadleigh and in spite of the slagging it got on here at the time for "looking tame", it was actually properly hard racing with some bad crashes.
I also thought the rear shock was locked out on Rissveds bike. I enjoyed watching the race and am looking forward to the mens race.
Course looked pretty challenging to me.
Glad Maja Wloszczowska got a medal, makes up for that World Champs heartache.
Will anyone stop Schurter is the question for tomorrow

It is almost as though there may be some marketing factors at play with bike selection.... 😉
And for all the French whining, surely if they're upset about investment in sport, they can give up all the money that's going in to their rugby!
TV said today this is France's most successful summer games ever.
I thought it was a good course, plenty of chances to overtake, some nice uphill sections especially over the rocks, going down was definitely flattened by the camera.
Pretty good advert for the sport.

Pros riding a bike because they're paid to? No! That could never happen! Especially not with a Vitus.... 😉 (See Planet X/Giant TCR thread...!)

Agreed. Looked a very good course overall. A little too much helicopter camera for me, however, which flattens things even more. That said, some of the techier sections looked brilliant fun.
He hasn't even got a set of the Olympic blue SIDs!
Being Sagan, I expect he also doesn't care!
That picture puts the bike at a weird perspective, the wheels look different sizes and slightly oval.
Well Rockshox's blue fork promotional stunt fell flat as the winner had DT Swiss 😀
Hammering down in Rio apparently, guessing the course is weather resistant but some of the rocks might be slippy
Here we go!
Can only find it online.
Looks a tad moist.
Keh? It's on BBC1
Ah.
Wasn't earlier. Thanks.
Sagan on the blue forks now
3rd from last ain't bad
He's now 3rd from the front.
There's a set of off line log steps that might be fun once they've been coated with wet and mud!!
They are mincing that one in the wet. Don't blame them one bit...
Did they say Phetetso Monese has had a mechanical?
WTF? Carrying bikes down the log steps?
🙄
Different course in the wet from yesterday.
Yer I meant he started last and now 3rd
Carrying as bottle necked and came to a halt, don't blame them
I think that's the same blonde (with the legs...) as yesterday at the intermediate timing point... 8)
Even Shurter had to get of and carry up a short sharp rise there, mind you wouldn't pose any problem;em to rocketdog.
Absalon probably lost this already, he couldn't afford that start with Shurters form.
Noooooo a flat for Sagan.
Flat for Sagan!
Where's the team car?
Bollocks.
What a shitter
Nice right hook from the Russian.
Pit lane comedy crash. Charlie Whiting will be all over that.
Sagan 🙁 he was going well - he's back but far down now
Can't he take a lap out and rejoin, like on the track?
What on earth was that russian rider doing?! Cut the canadian rider right up in the pits!
Absalon probably lost this already, he couldn't afford that start with Shurters form.
Absalon always starts slow, and then works his way into.
No tubeless setups?
Crap for Sagan, now we will never know what could have been.
front wheel flats? Poor technique.
Go peter go
front wheel flats? Poor technique.
Not necessarily.
The female commentator is very annoying
Absalon always starts slow, and then works his way into.
Not so much for the past year or so.
Nino is off like a stabbed rat!
Looks like a few over optimistic tyre pressures in an effort to get more grip.
Cheeky whip there!
No tubeless setups?
Surely they must, no?
Yeah, loving the moustachioed Spaniard!
The Israeli definitely had a tube!
^^^ yes quality
No tube in the Israeli's tyre
Edit could've sworn was just the tyre
