Why aren't any of the main BBC channels showing the women's XC 👿 .... As in BBC 1,2,3,4 etc. Have an old sky box so can't tune in the fancy channels.

Load of *&^£$$$!!!!

Rissveds mechanical broke up the pack, and is now working to her advantage.

Can Pendrel close that gap on the last lap, she does look strong.

Worthy winner.

Batty could have done with the course being 200m longer eh?

+1 good race. Impressive from Rissveds. Course could be tougher though. The men will flatten it.

Anyone else notice in the slow-mo's that shock on Rissveds bike seemed to be doing almost nothing? Wondering why you'd take weight penalty over a hardtail if you are going to lock out (or crazy high pressure) the rear even on downhill sections.

Shame about the commentary being so crap, absolutely no insight into the race apart from the blindingly obvious.

I mean technically tough. It was obviously 'hard work' tough but there didn't look like that much to really separate the skillful riders from the fit.

Interesting to see how Sagan goes though. There'll be nothing to worry him technically but those XC boys are super fit.

not quite a 'rock garden' mate...

Aside from the commentary being cringeworthy and dire throughout, that course looked ferocious, I think the cameras flattened it out a lot. No one has yet worked out a way of making XC MTB racing look exciting but I suspect those rock sections would have had more than a few riders off here thinking twice about it, especially on a carbon hard tail with an XC stem/saddle position.

I saw the XC course at Hadleigh and in spite of the slagging it got on here at the time for "looking tame", it was actually properly hard racing with some bad crashes.

I also thought the rear shock was locked out on Rissveds bike. I enjoyed watching the race and am looking forward to the mens race.

Glad Maja Wloszczowska got a medal, makes up for that World Champs heartache.

Will anyone stop Schurter is the question for tomorrow

It is almost as though there may be some marketing factors at play with bike selection.... 😉

And for all the French whining, surely if they're upset about investment in sport, they can give up all the money that's going in to their rugby!

TV said today this is France's most successful summer games ever.

I thought it was a good course, plenty of chances to overtake, some nice uphill sections especially over the rocks, going down was definitely flattened by the camera.

Pretty good advert for the sport.

Pros riding a bike because they're paid to? No! That could never happen! Especially not with a Vitus.... 😉 (See Planet X/Giant TCR thread...!)

Agreed. Looked a very good course overall. A little too much helicopter camera for me, however, which flattens things even more. That said, some of the techier sections looked brilliant fun.

Being Sagan, I expect he also doesn't care!
That picture puts the bike at a weird perspective, the wheels look different sizes and slightly oval.

Hammering down in Rio apparently, guessing the course is weather resistant but some of the rocks might be slippy

There's a set of off line log steps that might be fun once they've been coated with wet and mud!!

Even Shurter had to get of and carry up a short sharp rise there, mind you wouldn't pose any problem;em to rocketdog.

Absalon probably lost this already, he couldn't afford that start with Shurters form.
