Oh, that?
Just ANOTHER Olympic record!
๐
Oh yeah
And cfh gets Olympic speed posting record
Ribbed keyboard, innit.
๐
I'm not sure I wanted to know that
Hoy surprised that riders from other countries going slower than they were. Is it just that the track's quite slow (they mentioned yesterday that the air pressure is quite high), and GB riders have really upped their game?
My local has it on ! Hurrah.
Could be a three pint night. ๐
Wouldn't high air pressure make it faster?
So do we think the aussies are going to step up their game for team pursuit tonight?
I love the split screen, it looks like a computer game - little animated icons beetling through.
Don't often see a catch, nice ride by the Italians.
Wouldn't high air pressure make it faster?
No, you want low pressure. Less pressure = less air to push aside. That's why they increase the temperature, it makes the air less dense. If you can combine that with some bad weather (low pressure) outside, you're on for some very fast times.
I guess you screwed anyway if you're slow enough to get caught but it screws you even more as the front guy can't peel off while the other team is overtaking

This is a very important post. Seriously!
A pub. A pub showing cycling on the TV. Cycling. Being shown in a pub!
That's awesome! The sport has come so far, it's brilliant! I remember at school being seen as a bit odd* for riding bikes. Now it's a sport that's being shown in pubs!
*For so many reasons, bikes being just one!
Australia into the Gold/Silver ride - let's see if they go against GB or NZ!
higher air pressure and the best skin suits - is that what France was griping about?
Bloody hell, World & Olympic records falling like skittles!
Huge world record - I hope they haven't used too much!
Imperious.
cant wait to see them really go for it ๐
Wow
Please please let them be able to hold that for the final!
Huge world record - I hope they haven't used too much!
Me too. Mind, Australia had to work just as hard, if not harder, to get a time that was about 3 seconds / 50 mtrs slower.
To be fair,I asked them to put the cycling on. They were all asleep watching archery!
Anyway, what was brilliant was the round of applause the pub gave the world record!
They'll be giving crisps away if there's a gold medal!

Cheers, I knew they increased the temperature but for some reason, (a lack of understanding of basic physics probably) I thought that was to raise air pressure rather than lower it.
Enough time for a cheeky bogey hunt!

Still makes me smile!

Hence why tracks at altitude are faster as well, but then you have to balance lower oxygen levels and their effect on aerobic respiration vs the benefit of reduced air resistance.

Free crisps?! Which pub? *puts on coat*

An important balancing act for doing the hour record. For the TP (and pretty much all other standard track events) it's so anaerobic that there's not a significant disadvantage to altitude - at least not the sort of altitudes they build cycling tracks at.
all that stuff with Shane Sutton seems to have caused major disruption to the training plans then ๐
Enough time for a cheeky bogey hunt!
More to come in final then.
So, Max Levi, you're up against Jason Kenny in the sprint heats - the guy who's just blown the Olympic record out of the water.
"Oh ****!"
still makes me smile!
Me too.
They just cheered for Kenny.like a goal was scored.:-)
It may be 4 pints . Woop.
Frenchman beaten. Dutchman must be cheating. ๐
A New Zealander just beat a New Zealander.
New Zealand must be cheating.
We're not even in this event - they're all cheating
China just beat Russia.
Given that we know Russia are doping, I imagine they're both cheating.
๐
We're not even in this event -
That's only because it would be embarrassing to win every single race.
China win in 32s. Jess Varnish and Beryl Burton would have done 28.
There doesn't appear to be much atmosphere in this velodrome. In London the noise was incredible, cheering and clapping for everything and then when the Brits got onto the track just this amazing crescendo of sound.
Unless there's something wrong with the sound here, it all seems rather subdued.
Velodrome pretty empty.
Didn't know that the Cervelo track bikes GB ride are actually made in the UK?
Hand crafted by Boardman in his shed and tested in his personal wind tunnel before slapping Cervelo stickers on.
It's not Boardman any more, it's Tony.
Nice ride from the Danish team from Bronze, technically very smart. Surprised that NZ let it go so soon.
Right, Team GB - bring it on!
Here we go ๐
When we are so much better than the others, why am i still shitting it?
Come on chaps !
This is not going well.
Shouting at TV now.
