I've been running single ring up front 9speed for ages and have just upgraded to ten speed kit, I've noticed that when in lowest gear on the cassette (big ring) the chain line is horrendous! Really on the skew, is this normal? I never noticed it on my previous set up. I have the spacer on the drive side and none on the nds, chain device is iscg so doesn't affect that at all....is everybody's the same? It looks like a good way to stress the chain !
Swap the spacer to the non-drive side - job done.
Had the same issue on my SC Nomad when I fitted a 10 speed 2012 Shimano XT chainset.
Something to do with the 'q factor' ๐
A 50mm chainline is awful for a single ring setup, you could try fitting some chainring spacers.

some info about their use on Sheldons site

i had a similar problem..on my remedy
had to use a metal 3mm spacer under the chainring to space it out, so it was in-line with the middle of the cassette..works fine now
sorry for the delay, away doing kids duties.
I can't put spacer on NDS as granny tabs will foul the chain device...
will look at other spacers though cheers.
edit: looked at the spacers and reckon they may help a lot, will see what i can do, many thanks!
they worked well for me...i think its a common fault when going to 1x10...puts it more inbound (closer to frame)
WINS allround
@proflex, I'll order a set and have a looksie at fitting it nextweek but looking at them it'll sort it out, i'll have to play with spacing the chainguide also but shouldn't be too much bother, knowing my luck i'll need new/longer chainring bolts now too!
Which side of the crank ring mounts are you running it on? I put mine where the middle ring mounts originally, had the same issue so banged it inside to sit where the granny should. This is obviously on a 3cog crank though, if you're running a specific 1 or 2 cog then you might not have the option..
If you do space it and need longer bolts, i got mine from hubjub.
1x10 requires real commitment! File your granny ring tabs off!
