I rode the South Downs Way enduro 100 miler on Saturday, taking just under 12 hours with rest/food stops. My legs feel 90% recovered but I still feel very jaded and lethargic. I did a 20 min light spin and long stretch the next day, and have been taking it easy since. I used my usual protein recovery drinks straight after the event and the next day.

Should I still be feeling this tired?

it took me 7 days to recover properly from mayhem. i rode twice last week and felt shattered both days, so i had the weekend off riding. I did 42miles on monday night, on the road, and felt great.

So i'd recommend lots of sleep and having a few days off the bike.

I don't sleep well when it's hot and humid so that may have contributed to how i'm feeling.

You obviously went too fast paceman! 😉

We managed 14hrs with a ride time of approx 11.50hrs.......and were very glad to see the finish just before 9pm!

Felt completely washed out on Sunday, but by Monday was feeling pretty much okay. But then I am 48!

That last 20 miles was a killer wasn't it?

Absolute killer, I needed a heavy dose of Orange /Caffeine Clif Shot Bloks to keep me going!

Hey, Paceman, did you make sure you replenished on carbs as well as protein? I think the carbs are more important and after a big ride like that, I always go straight for one of those carby milkshakes like For Goodness Shakes or Frijj or Yazoo or whatever. Müller Rice is a good one, too. You use up such a shedload of energy, it's important to replenish it. I'm feeling ready for Sunday's race now (www.areyoutoughenough.co.uk). Mind you, I also glugged 6 litres of 6% Torq lemon/lime solution while on the SDW...

Definitely carbs all the way....I was trying to keep them going in but then made the mistake of thinking the Devils Dyke was closer than it was and knowing lunch was waiting I stopped eating! Mistake.....that hill killed me!!

After that, kept pushing it down me, washed down with water and electrolyte and it was okay....ish!

Been feeling slow and lethargic too and I was pretty much just a spectator there! So I'm going with the heatwave theory - after a week it's not uncommon to have some residual aches but energy-wise you should be fine.
