Kinesis Rise E-Trail Hardtail Eyes On At The Cycle Show

If you thought everything new was already seen at Eurobike, then think again! Kinesis has just launched a new e-MTB hardtail called the Rise at the NEC.

Kinesis says that while there are plenty of aggressive full-suspension e-MTBs on sale, the aggressive e-hardtail market is pretty thin with most brands relegating their hardtail e-bikes to commuter and shopper duty.

This is why they have developed the Kinesis Rise E-Trail, an alloy hardtail with a truly long, low, and slack geometry PLUS a removable battery and motor.

Kinesis hasn’t followed convention with the Rise E-Trail, even the sizes are called L1, L2, L3 and L4 because the intention is for riders to choose the best reach and standover for their type of riding. Even the largest of the sizes with a 510mm reach has a seat tube length of just 465mm, meaning myself at 178cm would find the bike rideable, although I would be happiest on a shorter version.

Long and low are very much checked off on this aggressive e-hardtail, and slack is sorted with a 66.7° head angle. At the other end of the bike though is a seat tube angle of 75.5° making it a comfortable climber too.

Using the Fazua motor and battery system, the Rise is actually 2 bikes in one. An aggressive e-MTB for riding when time is limited or when lapping runs, but pop the battery and motor system out, and you have a hooligan hardtail that can happily be raced too.

Kinesis will be offering both a Shimano and SRAM build of the Rise E-Trail hardtail. The Shimano model will be built with 1 x 12 SLX and cost £3200 while the SRAM model gets a GX Eagle build and slightly higher price of £3500.

All models come fitted with burly 29in wheels and aggressive rubber, and production bikes will be fitted with an e-Bike specific version of the 130mm travel X-Fusion E-Slide fork.

Pre-orders for the Kinesis Rise have already started, and delivery of these sparkling blue bikes will begin in early 2020.
