Before that glorious time, take a moment or two to enjoy this week’s Fresh Goods…
Crankbrothers Guardian Universal Handguard Kit
- Price: £49.99
- From: Extra UK

Is there any other MTB product that provokes quite as much apoplectic ridiocule as handguards? Not that I [Benji] mind. I am used to abuse. And when the handguards in question are fitted to a lavender ebike with pink wheels, teal brake calipers and an Aenomaly SwitchGrade saddle-angle-adjuster, it’s just another part of the test mess. And I am a user of handguards. Not for protecting against trees etc so much as protecting against overgrown trails, brambles, ferns etc. I previously used Revgrips Handguards but these new Guardians from Crankbrothers look to be a good option. Quick release (for swappig between bikes), laterally and vertically adjustable, stiff but bendy, wide ‘n’ deep enough to do the job. And not £80.00.

Stale Goods Friday – 2016 Cannondale Fat CAAD 1
- Price: £2,599.99
- From: Fresh Goods Friday 282

We wrote at the time: “What’s this? A fat bike? Why yes, my young padawan, but it’s a fatbike with a difference, oh goodness me yes! First up, it has a narrow Q factor (the distance between the pedals) compared to other fatties. A 1x transmission, of course. There’s plenty of clearance, even with those whopping tyres. The Olaf lefty fork with 100mm of travel also boasts a high offset of 60mm which aims to mprove handling above and beyond merely making the head angle steep (this one is 69 degrees).”

Click through for Garmin (if it is meant to be embedded?) isn’t working.
Love the proflex reference, probably over the head of the youth of today
Is it just me (short and squat) or is Rab kit not made for short and squat people? Its always a touch too slim or long. Those trousers look great, alas, no short leg length option not that I’m in the market right now.
Ordered some of those handguards yesterday but splashed an extra tenner of the version that replaces your grip lockring (most of my grips are Deity but they are compatible with a good number). Hopefully I’ll have them on a bike in time for prime overgrown trail season and hopefully no more bramble stabbed fingers
Question for the powers, why don’t I see this FGF as a thread in the forum overview? I almost missed it
Suggestion for the powers, I’d like to see a video review of the water-to-go bottle where the reviewer pops outside and fills the bottle from the canal then downs the lot in one.
Handguards have been a revelation for me over the last few months – I got the Sendhit Nock V2s. The area I ride in is covered in Gorse and brambles, and I get infected knuckles from the gorse spikes every year, even with thick gloves.
Strangely, not a single person has made a negative comment on them – maybe cos they’re on a Stooge, which is already weird looking 😆
