Sweet! I’ll be watching that when I get home.

Weird with the current DH season behind paywalls. Eurosport been showing the XC and short track (XCO?) on constant repeat, but no DH. Is it too popular, so they want money for it, or not popular enough, so don’t bother putting it on? Don’t get it.

    but no DH.

It is sorta niche. I mean, XCO, it’s an Olympic sport (clue’s in the name), folks will watch it, it’s completely understandable in a one sentence to folks who’ve never seen it before , “like a regular bike race, only on grass and mud”…whereas DH, well,  its going down a hill on bike – how hard is that? plus, one at a time, so you’ve got to watch the whole thing, plus Cedric being unintelligible

At least Emily can dress up and doesn’t have to pretend she’s just woken up in a tent in the middle of nowhere with a full face of perfectly applied make up on….[cough-insta]

Eurosport 1 listed the XC finals but showed the DH Semis, or something, I cant work it out.

Refreshingly honest interview with Rachel Atherton on her struggles with motherhood and getting back into racing. Worth a watch for that alone. I liked it.

Proper review show, very impressed. I hope there’s some people at ESO taking a good look at themselves.

That was a bit poor. Let’s just talk about those with the right helmets on. Won’t bother watching again

I’m not sure how youd get round that? They did after all have 4 ‘guests’ which from the 2 DH races they looked at covered 75% of the elite winners + the guy that just became the goat in XC. The fact that most ride for red bull is not a coincidence, but it also doesn’t reduce their relevance as guests.

The DH final reruns have been listed as XC highlights on my Virgin box. Will tune into this, looks good.

Haven’t watched it yet, but given how hard RB used to clamp down on the likes of Cathro doing his own thing when covering the races, this does feel a bit strange

Yeah, I’ll be watching one of those other mountain bike magazine shows with the expert presenters and access to all the top riders, me.

“Beyond the line” … hmmm, what does that sound like?

I’ve only watched about half of it but so far so good.

The Rachel Atherton interview was really good.

I don’t really follow XC but I quite liked the way they moved back and forth between XC and DH, works well with the magazine format.

Too much focus on RB athletes? Possibly so. They did have a section on Williams, wearing his Monster cap no less, but it was with a focus on team politics at Spesh. Compare that with the gushing coverage of Goldstone which was much more about achievement and bike skills. But that said the politics at Spesh is an obvious (and good) story…

Worst bit about the experience was finding the damn thing on the RB TV app on my tellybox. Big new MTB show with RB superstar commentators, and the RB answer to WC DH/XC coverage having just lost the broadcast rights. Should be front and centre under the “Biking” tab right? Was it heck. Cue ten minutes wrestling with the woeful search interface, including a trip back here to look up what the show is actually called 🙄

If that first episode is anything to go by, the main issue will be a shortage of footage of the races that they purport to be covering. GMBN highlights has much more actual race footage. However I’ll be interested to see where it goes. Rob and Elliot clearly have a good rapport after working together before. Emily will find her way, I’m sure, as the format settles.

What’s happening with Fort William? Rob alluded to something.
