You know what it’s like, you get home after a long day at work and fancy a quick spin on your bike. Problem is, you live too far from your usual riding spot and it’s already going dark… What to do?
Well if you happen to live in the Tameside area (East Manchester) you may soon have your very own 27km MTB route in your backyard to play on.
Tameside council are currently considering a trail that links up current routes around Stalybridge and Mossley to create a bike friendly and legal place for mountain biking.
The route has proposed by local rider Phil Allen, who is a volunteer at popular riding spots Lee Quarry and Craig Quarry as well as a PMBA member. With his local knowledge, Phil was able to plot a track that avoided using footpaths and contacted the Tameside council about the project.
We’re still waiting to hear if the trail will be given the go ahead, updates will be posted on the official Tame Valley MTB Trails Facebook Page.
